God’s presence, and in His presence will be naturally surrounded by His glory

Do we begin to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, like some people, letters of recommendation to you, or recommendation from you?
2 Corinthians 3:1

Note and Biblical Scripture References on 2 Corinthians
3:1″ The answers to both these questions is “no”. Paul is not saying letters of recommendation have no place. He himself sometimes recommended others (as read in 2 Corinthians 8:16-24; Romans 16:1-2 and 1 Corinthians 16:3, 10, 11). But here he is saying he needs no such thing for himself.

You are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by all men. 2 Corinthians 3:2

Note and Biblical Scripture References on 2 Corinthians
3:2-3″ The believers at Corinth were themselves like a letter of recommendation for Paul. Comparing them to a letter the following things are said about them. They were written on the hearts of Paul and his co-workers (that is, Paul and others were conscious of the work of God done in them and they loved them dearly, as read in 2 Corinthians 7:3). They were no secret letter hidden in Paul’s heart, but a letter anyone could read (anyone could see the change in them produced by Paul’s ministry). The letter was “of” Christ (it was His plan, His message that produced the change in them). They were also the letter of Paul and his associates (Christ had used them in this work). They were produced by God’s Spirit (compare John 3:5-8). The “writing” was done in their hearts (the change in them was not merely outward but inward –See 2 Corinthians 5:17). Paul puts all this in contrast to God’s writing the law on tablets of stone. See Exodus 31:18; 32:15-16. Compare Jeremiah 31:33-34 and Hebrews 8:10-12. Now too God’s servants are working with God to produce “letters” – people profoundly and eternally changed by Christ’s gospel. Is there any higher privilege on earth than this work?

For you are clearly seen to be a letter of Christ, a result of our ministry, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone, but on tablets of flesh, of the heart. 2 Corinthians 3:3

Note and Biblical Scripture References on 2 Corinthians 3:3-11″ In these verses Paul contrasts the new covenant with the old. The old was a ministry which brought death (as seen in vers 6,7), but the new brought life (vers 6).The old was written on stone (as read in Exodus 31:18), but the new is written on people’s hearts (vers 3). The old was a ministry which condemned men, but the new removes condemnation and makes men righteous (as we can read in vers 9 and Romans 3:19-24). The old was “fading away” (as we can read in vers 11 and Hebrews 8:13), but the new is permanent (vers 11).
In short, the old covenant was in laws and commandments which could never change people’s hearts (See references at Exodus 19:5-6), but the new brings the ministry of God’s Spirit which makes men new (vers 3,6,8). So though the old had glory, the new has far more glory (see vers 8-11). It seems likely that some people had been troubling the Christians in Corinth by telling them they needed to keep the law of Moses. Compare Acts 15:1-2. So Paul shows them how much greater was the gospel he preached than the law they preached.

And we have such trust through Christ toward God.
2 Corinthians 3:4

“Note and Biblical Scripture Reference on 2 Corinthians 3:4” He was quite sure that God was using him in the work described above. Jesus Christ Himself gave him this assurance.

Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to think anything as coming from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God,
2 Corinthians 3:5

“Note and Biblical Scripture Reference on 2 Corinthians 3:5” As read in 2 Corinthians 2:16. The above work is impossibly difficult for anyone who is not called and equipped by God. Paul’s confidence in the work was not self-confidence in his own abilities. He knew that God alone made him able to do what he did (as read in 1 Corinthians 15:10 and Colossians 1:29 and Compare John 15:5).

who indeed has made us able ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter, but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
2 Corinthians 3:6

“Note and Biblical Scripture References on 2 Corinthians 3:6” Everyone whom God sends on His work can and should have this confidence that God will make him able to do that work. On the new covenant see references at Matthew 26:28; Jeremiah 31:31-34 and Hebrews 8:6-13. The Greek word translated “letter” here is not the same as in vers 2,3, and its meaning is completely different. By “letter” here Paul is referring to the old covenant with its laws, rules, and regulations. It brought death because no one ever fully kept it, and so it justly condemned people to death (as read in Romans 7:9-11 and Galatians 3:10. See also Romans 3:19-20; 4:15; 5:20; 8:3). But the new covenant brings life by God’s Spirit (as read in Romans 7:6; 8:2-4, 11 and John 3:5-8).

But if the ministry of death, written and engraved on stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the face of Moses, because of the glory on his countenance, which was passing away,
2 Corinthians 3:7

“Note and Biblical Scripture Reference on 2 Corinthians 3:7” “Face of Moses”– as we can read in Exodus 34:29-35.

how will the ministry of the Spirit not be even more glorious?
2 Corinthians 3:8

For if the ministry of condemnation is glorious, much more glorious is the ministry of righteousness. 2 Corinthians 3:9

For even what was made glorious has no glory in this respect: the fact of the glory that excels it.
2 Corinthians 3:10

For if what was passing away was glorious, what lasts is much more glorious. 2 Corinthians 3:11

Therefore, since we have such a hope, we use great boldness of speech, 2 Corinthians 3:12

“Note and Biblical Scripture References on 2 Corinthians 3:12” “Hope”–As read in Romans 5:2-5; 8:23-25. This hope, this expectation of glorious things in the future made Paul very bold in the present, and so can we look at the great glorious things yet unseen.

unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face, so that the children of Israel could not steadily look on to the finish of what was passing away. 2 Corinthians 3:13

“Note and Biblical Scripture Reference on 2 Corinthians 3:13” Read Exodus 34:29-35. The sight of glory made the Israelites afraid. The new covenant does not bring fear but great hope, boldness and joy.

But their minds were blinded, for to this day the same veil remains in place when the old covenant is read, for this veil is taken away only in Christ. 2 Corinthians 3:14

But even to this day, when Moses is read, the veil is on their heart. 2 Corinthians 3:15

However when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. 2 Corinthians 3:16

“Note and Biblical Scripture Reference on 2 Corinthians 3:14-16” He now draws spiritual lessons from the veil Moses put on his face. In vers 14 he is speaking of those who were still under the old covenant – Jews and converts to the Jewish religion. Their minds are dull, a veil is on their hearts (vers 15). That is, they do not have a proper understanding of what they read in the Old Testament. See 2 Corinthians 4:3-4. And compare Jesus’ words to the Jews in John 5:39-40, 46, 47. Only Jesus Christ can take away the “veil” of darkness and misunderstanding and cause men to know the truth and to know God (as read in vers 14,16; Matthew 11:27 and John 8:12, 31, 32; 14:6).

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 2 Corinthians 3:17

“Note and Biblical Scripture Reference on 2 Corinthians 3:17” The Lord Jesus Christ and God’s Spirit are one in the same sense that the Father and the Son are one (as we can read in John 10:30; 14:9). God’s Spirit is called the Spirit of Christ as read in Rom 8:9. See references on the Trinity at Matthew 3:16-17.

“Liberty”– God’s Spirit gives many kinds of freedom: from the law (as we can read in Romans 7:4, 6; Galatians 5:18), from fear (as seen in Romans 8:15), from sin (as seen in Romans 6:14, 18).Also compare John 8:36.

But we all, with unveiled faces, seeing, as in a mirror, the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same likeness from glory to glory, altogether by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18

“Note and Biblical Scripture References on 2 Corinthians 3:18” “Seeing”– all believers now see God’s glory in Christ (as read in 2 Corinthians 4:6). That is, if we have (received) spiritual understanding of it, an great enlightenment of the mind regarding it. But it is all like seeing in a poor mirror. As read in 1 Corinthians 13:12. Only a reflection appears, not the whole reality which every believers will see when face to face with Jesus Christ. But now all believers are being changed. The Greek word translated “transformed” appears only four times in the New Testament – here, See Matthew 17:2; Mark 9:2; and Romans 12:2. It suggests an inward change that appears outwardly. In the case of Jesus Christ it meant a change in outward appearance that was in accordance with what He was inwardly. In the case of believers this is both an inner and an outward change, first inner, then outer. And it is a gradual process – “from glory to glory”. Compare Psalms 84:7 and Proverbs 4:18. Here and now God is making them more and more like Jesus Christ. Finally, at His coming, they shall become completely like Him (as we can clearly read in Romans 8:29 and 1 John 3:1-2). hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, all honor, praise and glory to our Lord of Lords, King of Kings, who reigns and is to come to fulfill His glorious new Kingdom. Amen!

Much LoVe, JoY, Peace and Blessings through Jesus Christ, our almighty, wonderful dear caring Lord, Saviour and Redeemer, in who we faithfully abide, trust, believe and abundantly do receive, throughout His marvelous righteous Word and truth fulfilling Holy Spirit ✝️🔥👑🙏🕊️

Holding fast in confidence, through our Lord Jesus Christ

Therefore, holy brethren, sharers in the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus,
Hebrews 3:1

Note and Bibical Scripture References on Hebrews 3:1-6
Jesus Christ is greater than Moses. Moses was a servant in God’s house, but Jesus was God’s Son over the house.

“Therefore”– this is God’s way: He gives glorious truth then appeals to people to act according to it (as we can read in Romans 12:1; 1 Corinthians 15:58; 2 Corinthians 7:1; Galatians 5:1; Ephesians 4:1 and Colossians 3:1).

“Holy”– As read in Hebrews 2:11.

“Heavenly calling”– the call to believers came from heaven and leads them to heaven (As we can read in Romans 8:30)

“Apostle”– this is the only place in the Bible where Jesus Christ is called “apostle”. It means God sent Him on His mission into the world and spoke through Him (as we can read in Hebrews 1:2 and John 6:38-39).

“High Priest”– as read in Hebrews m 2:17.

who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in all his house.
Hebrews 3:2

Note and Bibical Scripture Reference on Hebrews 3:2
Both Moses and Jesus Christ were faithful – as read in Numbers 12:7 and John 8:28-29; 17:4. “House” means the household of God (God’s people)

For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, since he who has built the house has more honour than the house.
Hebrews 3:3

For every house is built by someone, but he who built all things is God.
Hebrews 3:4

Note and Bibical Scripture Reference on Hebrews 3:3-4
Moses was part of the household of God, but the Lord Jesus is the one who created it. So obviously Jesus is far superior to Moses.

And Moses as a servant was indeed faithful in all his house, as a testimony to those things which were to be spoken afterwards, Hebrews 3:5

but Christ as a Son over His own house; whose house we are, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.
Hebrews 3:6

Note and Bibical Scripture Reference on Hebrews 3:5-6
The Son over the house is in a far superior position to a servant in the house. Moses spoke of things to be “spoken afterwards”. That is, he pointed to a further revelation of truth from God (compare Hebrews 10:1).Jesus Christ is the one of whom Moses testified – as we can read in Luke 24:27 and John 5:46. Why does the writer show Jesus Christ’s superiority to Moses? Moses is the representative of the old covenant of law; Jesus Christ is the founder of the new covenant of grace. The writer will later show that the new is far superior to the old (as we can read in Hebrews 8:6-13). Here he shows the new is superior because of its Founder.

“Whose house we are”– Moses served among the people of Israel; Jesus Christ’s household is made up of all believers in Him, and He is the Head of the house.

“If”– Read in vers 14; Colossians 1:23 and 1 Corinthians 15:2. This does not teach that believers who are members of His household may lose their faith and cease to be members. The meaning is that continuing to believe is the real evidence of membership. See vers 14. It is useless to say of anyone who gives up their courage and hope, rejects the gospel, and goes back to live in sin that they ever possessed God’s salvation (As we can read in Hebrews 10:39; John 10:27 and 1 John 2:19).

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, Today if you will hear His voice, Hebrews 3:7

Note and Bibical Scripture Reference on Hebrews 3:7-19
These verses give the second warning against apostasy. Verses 7-11 are taken from Psalms 95:7-11. They show that a whole generation can profess to be the household of God and yet be guilty of unbelief and fail to receive the blessing God promised to give to those who believed (See Vers 19). If it happened once it can happen more than once.

“The Holy Spirit says”– observe these words. A man wrote Psalm 95, but God’s Spirit inspired the writing and spoke through him. Compare 9:8; 1 Timothy 3:16 and 2 Peter 1:21.

“Today”– this word signifies a new beginning, a new day of opportunity. It means this era of Jesus Christ’s gospel. Compare 2 Corinthians 6:1-2.

do not harden your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of testing in the desert,
Hebrews 3:8

Note and Bibical Scripture Reference on Hebrews 3:8
“Provocation”– as read in Exodus 17:1-7 and Psalms 95:8″

when your fathers tested me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
Hebrews 3:9

Note and Bibical Scripture Reference on Hebrews 3:9
“Forty years”– As we can read in Numbers 14:26-35.

Therefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They always go astray in their heart, and they have not known my ways. Hebrews 3:10

Note and Bibical Scripture Reference on Hebrews 3:10
“Grieved”– acting in a provoking way, hardening the heart and going astray – all that was (and is) a grief to God.

“Always go astray”– they were not like Jesus Christ’s sheep (who obey His voice and follow Him – as we can read in John 10:27). Outwardly they had the name of being God’s people, inwardly they were hard, unbelieving and rebellious. Compare Psalms 58:3 and Isaiah 1:2-3; 53:6.

So I swore in my wrath, They will not enter my rest.
Hebrews 3:11

Note and Bibical Scripture Reference on Hebrews 3:11
“My wrath”– see references on God’s anger at Numbers 25:3.

“My rest”– rest from the desert journey and from their enemies in Canaan (as we can read in Deuteronomy 1:34-36; 12:9 and Joshua 23:1).

Watch, brethren, so that there may not be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God,
Hebrews 3:12

Note and Bibical Scripture References on Hebrews 3:12-19” The writer applies the words of Psalms 95:7-11 to the situation among the Jews in his day. We may well apply it to the situation in the churches in our time. The warning is against unbelief among those who are called God’s people.

“Watch”– as we can read in Hebrews 12:25; the dreadful possibility of unbelief is there; be very careful about it. An unbelieving heart is sinful. Sin produces unbelief which leads to further sin. An unbelieving heart cannot be seen but the outward evidence of it is turning away from the living God. Whenever men turn away from Him we know the cause is this – not their reason, their intellect, their learning, etc. It is the state of the heart that determines what men do. as we can read in Proverbs 4:23.

but encourage each other daily, while it is called “today”, lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. Hebrews 3:13

Note and Bibical Scripture References on Hebrews 3:13
Christians should constantly encourage other Christians to really believe God and go on believing, and to avoid sin. This can be an instrument in God’s hands for much good. Observe two facts about sin. It hardens men’s hearts against God, and it is deceitful (as we can read in 2 Thessalonians 2:10). Sin likes to present itself as something pleasant rather than the ugly thing God says it is. It tries to appear as honey rather than the poison it really is. It speaks of pleasures but is quiet about the wages it pays (as we can read in Romans 6:23), and God’s anger against it (as read in Romans 1:18).

Sin is one of the three deceitful powers that make men blind and keep them in the broad way which leads to destruction. For the other two see Jeremiah 17:9; and Revelation 12:9. When the great deceiver satan uses deceiving sin in man’s deceitful heart, is there any limit to the possibilities of deception?

For we have become sharers with Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence firm to the end;
Hebrews 3:14

Note and Bibical Scripture References on Hebrews 3:14
As read in verse 6. Observe carefully these verbs. We have become sharers in Jesus Christ (past tense – not “we will become sharers) if we hold our confidence in Him firm to the end (speaks of the future). If we have come to share in Jesus Christ – the future cannot abolish an actual event in the past. It can only confirm it. It can reveal whether we have really come to share in Jesus Christ or not. The writer is defining the true people of God, they share in Jesus Christ and prove it by continuing to believe. Faith will be tried, its profession will be tested. The genuine believer will appear by his perseverance in the faith. It is not enough to make some sort of beginning as a Christian. We must go on believing till the end. true believers in Jesus Christ do this. Apostates do not, because the faith they professed to have is not genuine (compare Hebrews 10:35-39; Romans 5:9-10; John 10:27; 17:11-12; Luke 22:31-32; 1 John 2:19).

while it is said, Today if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts, as in the provocation. Hebrews 3:15

“Note and Bibical Scripture References on Hebrews 3:15”
Hardening the heart and rebelling against God is evidence of an unbelieving heart.

For some, when they had heard, did provoke God; however not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
Hebrews 3:16

Note and Bibical Scripture References on Hebrews 3:16
“Not all”– the whole nation of Israel, with only two exceptions (as we can read in Numbers 14:1-2, 30).

“Out of Egypt”– as we can read in Exodus 14:29-31.

But with whom was he grieved forty years? Was it not with those who had sinned, whose dead bodies fell in the desert? Hebrews 3:17

Note and Bibical Scripture References on Hebrews 3:17″ As read in verse 10; 1 Corinthians 10:1-12; Ephesians 5:6 and Colossians 3:6. The writer is warning of the possibility that the Hebrews of his generation too might face the wrath of God. It was essential for them to believe and obey God’s revelation in Jesus Christ.

And to whom did he swear that they would not enter his rest, but to those who refused to believe? Hebrews 3:18

So we see that they could not enter because of unbelief.
Hebrews 3:19

Note and Bibical Scripture References on Hebrews 3:18-19” As read in verse 11; Numbers 14:11; Deuteronomy 9:24; Psalms 78:10-12, 21, 22 and Acts 7:51-53

“Refused to believe”– As we can read in John 3:36. It could also be translated “disobeyed”. Disobedience and unbelief (vers 19) work hand in hand. They are partners in every crime against God and man. And they are twin thieves which rob men of the opportunity to receive and enjoy what God offers to all. Then they kept Israel from entering Canaan, the promised land. Now, just as surely, they will keep men from entering heaven.

Whoever believes in the Son has everlasting life, and whoever refuses to believe the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him”. John 3:36

Note and Biblical Scripture Reference on John 3:36
This naturally follows from the preceding verses. God has ordained that Christ has given eternal life to those who believe in Him. He is the only one who can give it and this is the only way by which it is received. See References on eternal life at John 3:16

“Refuses to believe”– this translation brings out the meaning of the Greek, which could also be translated “does not obey”, or “is rebellious against”. It is a different word than the word translated “believes” earlier in the verse. The translation here “believeth not” is also possible, but does not bring out the idea of disobedience or rebelliousness that is in the Greek word. The translation “refuses to believe” suggests this attitude of disobedience, of wilful, stubborn unbelief. Believing in Jesus Christ involves submitting to Him, refusing to believe is continuing in rebellion and disobedience. As we can read in Romans 1:5 and Acts 22:10.

“Wrath”– to reject Jesus Christ, to be disobedient to Him, is to choose sin. And the anger of God will always remain on all sin and all sinners (As we can read in Matthew 3:7; Romans 1:18; Ephesians 5:6;1 Thessalonians 1:10 and Revelation 6:16-17; 19:15. See References also on Numbers 25:3; Deuteronomy 4:25 and Psalms 90:7-11). His anger comes because of His holy, righteous nature which hates all evil. Every person will have either eternal life, or else God’s anger remaining on him. There is no middle ground…

Much LoVe, JoY, Peace and Blessings through Jesus Christ, our wonderful, almighty, dear caring Lord, Saviour and Redeemer, in who we faithfully abide, trust, believe and abundantly do receive throughout His marvelous righteous Word and truth fulfilling Holy Spirit.✝️🔥👑🙏🕊️

I Open Up My Heart

I open up my heart
And draw near to You Lord
Please wash my dirty feet
Humbly I bow and pray
I call upon Your name
Lord, come deliver me
Chorus:
I come into Your light
My sin I will not hide for I want to be clean When temptation comes my way Help me to stand in faith so that I will not yield
When sin lies at my door
I know Your greater Lord
Than he that’s in the world
And I must master it
By grace I will resist
And choose this day whom I’ll serve
Bridge:
Father, keep me from temptation
Father, I need your grace to stand
Father, deliver me from evil
Give me a hatred for my sin.
How can I keep my way
Clean and pure this day
By taking heed to Your word
I’ll hid Your word within
That I might not sin
And please the one whom I serve

Are you living for the LORD?

“And Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD, the king, and the people, to be a people unto the LORD; and also between the king and the people.” (as we can read in 2 Kings 11:17) Priest Jehoiada made a covenant, between Judah and the Lord. He caused the people to live devotedly to God again, by making a promise to God. Judah chose to be a people for the LORD.

Are you living for the LORD? Or are you living for something/someone else?

The kings before young King Joash, he was 7 years old when he became king, did not all live for the LORD. In fact, some even deliberately chose against God and did things that were not according to God’s will. The people followed the example of their leader; they went along with what the king was doing. Jehoiada, priest of the LORD, knew this was how it worked; he used it, by having the king make a covenant with God. He knew that the people would follow, that they would answer the question “are you living for the LORD” differently when they saw a good king.

It helps people when there is a good example; fortunately, the Lord Jesus Christ is the perfect example of how the church should live. Jesus Christ did what God the Father asked of Him (As we can Read in John 5:19), He was perfectly obedient in everything (As we can read in 1 Peter 2:22). He lived perfectly for the LORD, He is the example you are supposed to follow. In everything, in every situation, no matter what came to Him. Jesus Christ continually chose the way God had for Him. That is what belongs to living fully for the LORD, walking God’s way. Every day you might struggle with the flesh, every day your flesh desires things that are not according to God’s will (As read in Galatians 5). At the same time, the Holy Spirit wants to lead you to obey God and His marverlous righteous Word (as we can read Ezekiel 36:27); He wants to enable you to do so. You can choose: do you walk your own way, the way of the world and/or satan? Or will you walk God’s way and live for the LORD? That is a daily choice, a daily struggle; but thankfully we are more than victors, through Him who loved us (as we can read in Romans 8:37).

God’s way might not the easiest or a painless way; it is way on which there will be suffering, pain and trouble. At the same time, you may know that in all that God Himself is with you; you may learn in and through all that His grace is sufficient (as we can read in 2 Corinthians 12). That is the very best, that is exactly.what you need. Living for the LORD means living according to Who He is and what He gives; no longer according to you’re fleshly way but throughout the Spirit of God. That is a way of living that gives so much peace, takes so much pressure off your own shoulders. Living for our LORD means living in complete dependence on Him and Him alone. That goes directly against a lot of what the world teaches you, of what people say to you. And yet this is the way of life that God has for His children; you may learn to live according to Who your Heavenly Father is. In everything you may learn to be thankful (as we can read in Colossians 4:2), you may learn to pray in and for everything (as we can read in Philippians 4). The life that God has for you is a life that is first and foremost centered on Him and completely before Him.

What are you living for?

King Joash was allowed to learn from priest Jehoiada to live for the LORD, God Himself. That is exactly the lesson we may learn too, to live for the LORD.

Are you living for the LORD? Or are you living for something/someone else?

It is very easy to say “yes” to this question, it is a greater challenge to live it every day. Think about this, ask the LORD if there are things in your heart that you consider more important than Him. Let Him judge your heart (as read in Hebrews 4:12), let Him lead you in making the right choice.

It comes down, as it so often does, to choices; what are you living for?

Living for the LORD is a, daily, choice; it is something of your will, not always of your feelings. It may even go directly against your feelings, living for the LORD; and yet this is the best choice you can make. This is how life is supposed to be, what you were made for.

Are you living for the LORD? Are you choosing to live for Him?

Much LoVe, JoY, Peace and Blessings through Jesus Christ, our almighty dear caring Lord, Saviour and Redeemer, in who we faitfully abide, trust, believe and abundantly do receive throughout His marvellous righteous Word and truth fulfilling Holy Spirit ✝️🔥👑🙏🕊️

The heavens declare the glory of God

The heavens declare
the glory of God;
and the expanse shows
His handiwork. Psalms 19:1

Note and Biblical Scripture References on Psalms 19:1

This beautiful Psalm speaks of two witnesses for God’s creation (As read in vers 1-6), and the marvelous teaching God has revealed (as seen in vers 7-11). It closes with the desire to be free from sin and to be pleasing to the Creator.

“Expanse” – as read in Genesis 1:6-8

Day by day they pour forth speech, and night by night show forth knowledge.
Psalms 19:2

Note and Biblical Scripture References on Psalms 19:2

Creation testifies to God’s being and glory. Compare Romans 1:19-20. Jesus Christ Himself pointed to nature as teaching God’s wisdom, glory, and care as read in Matthew 6:26-30; 10:29. So it is in vain for any philosopher or scientist to deny it. Those who do so only show their own spiritual blindness or prejudice.

There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard. Psalms 19:3

Their boundary line has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun,
Psalms 19:4

Note and Biblical Scripture References on Psalms 19:3-4

The heavens, the sun, moon, and stars do not speak words, but their silent testimony is universal and very powerful. It reaches every nation, tribe, and village on earth. These beautiful created objects are saying, “There is a Creator, a marvelous God of infinite power and glory”. This testimony goes everywhere, including places where no human preacher has ever gone.

The sun is singled out as the brightest object in the sky that declares the glory of God. Men at different times and places have worshiped the sun as God. The writers of the Bible, inspired by God’s Spirit, knew better. The sun is marvelous created by our almighty dear sovereign, reigning Heavenly Father (as read in Genesis 1:1, 16), and points to God as our almighty dear caring creator.

“Line”– translations of the Hebrew into Greek (the Septuagint), Latin, and Syriac have “voice” here (perhaps indicating that in those far-off days the Hebrew word also conveyed that meaning). Whether we keep “line” or opt for “voice” the teaching seems to be the same namely, there is no place that the testimony of the heavens does not reach.

Which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and like a strong man rejoicing to run a race.
Psalms 19:5

Its rising is from one end of heaven, and its circuit to the other ends of it, and there is nothing hidden from its heat.
Psalms 19:6

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul. The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
Psalms 19:7

Note and Biblical Scripture References on Psalms 19:7

“Law”- the Hebrew word also means “instruction”, “teaching”. The teaching or the law God has given in His marvelous righteous Word also reveals His glory. David is doubtless referring to the books of Moses, which made up nearly all the written marvelous righteous Word of God then available. Believers now have the rest of the Bible, a much fuller revelation of God’s wisdom, love, power, and glory. The expliciet revelation God has given is perfect, there is no flaw of any kind in it (as read in Psalms 12:6; 18:30 and Matthew 5:17-18). It has wonderful and miraculeus power to change the human heart and soul. (as read in Psalms 119:25, 107; John 15:3; James 1:21; 1 Peter 1:23). We can be very confident that what our almighty dear Heavenly Father has revealed is trustworthy, as we can read in Psalms 93:5 and 111:7. A simple person who knows, believes, loves and abide in the marvelous righteous Word of God will become wiser over time when holding on in their faith and persistence to our almighty dear Heavenly Father, other then to think highly of themselves to perform a need of high education. (as read in Psalms 111:10; 119:99 and Proverbs 1:7). This is because the marvelous righteous Word of God will teach the fear of the Lord Jesus Christ.

The statutes of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
Psalms 19:8

The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever. The judgments of the LORD are altogether true and righteous.
Psalms 19:9

Note and Biblical Scripture References on Psalms 19:9

References on “fear of the Lord” can be found and read at Psalms 34:11-14; 111:10; Job 28:28; Proverbs 1:7 and Genesis 20:11. The fear of the Lord has a permanent effect for good in a person’s life. One of the glories of God’s marvelous teachings in the Bible is that they are altogether holy, just, and good (as read in Romans 7:12).

They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold. They are sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Psalms 19:10

Note and Biblical Scripture References on Psalms 19:10

If every human believers reach out after the wonderful truths of God’s marvelous righteous Word and keep His commands they would pursue a totally blessed and wealth life style, how different the whole world would be when everyone become to receive, believe and understand such a great beneficial gift that is more finer then gold as read in Psalms 119:72, 127; Proverbs 8:10-11, 19). The marvelous righteous Word of God is very sweet to the spiritual man (as read in Psalms 119:103 and Proverbs 24:13-14). If it is not so with us it is because we are still carnal and sin is deceiving us from what is right from wrong. Let us therefore seek after Gods marvelous righteous Word and abide in His commands, and become blamless before God as read in Deuteronomy 18:13 and Joshua 24:14

Moreover by them your servant is warned, and in keeping them there is great reward. Psalms 19:11

Note and Biblical Scripture References on Psalms 19:11

As long as we are living in this world we’ll have to continue by perseverance throughout the Holy Spirit, and therefore become to walk under God’s protection (as read in 2 Chronicles 19:10; Ezekiel 3:18-21; Acts 20:31; 1 Corinthians 4:14; Colossians 1:28; 1 Thessalonians 5:14 and Hebrews 11:7).

On “reward” Read Psalms 17:4; 25:10; 119:9; Joshua 1:7-8; Isaiah 66:2; John 17:17; James 1:21 and 1 Peter 2:2. Spiritual prosperity and success, safety, God’s loving favor, purity of life, God’s esteem, increasing sanctification, spiritual growth, these are some of the “rewards” of obedience to God’s marvelous righteous Word. Besides there will be the eternal rewards to be enjoyed in heaven (as read in Revelation 22:12).

Who can discern his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults.
Psalms 19:12

Note and Biblical Scripture References on Psalms 19:12

Read Psalms 90:8; 139:23-24 and  Leviticus 4:1-2, No doubt we all may commit acts which in our eyes may not be errors or sins but will be such in the eyes of our almighty dear Heavenly Father (as clearly read and seen in Jeremiah 17:9-10).

Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins. Let them not have dominion over me. Then I will be blameless, and I will be innocent from great transgression.
Psalms 19:13

Note and Biblical Scripture References on Psalms 19:13

Read Nummers 15:30-31. Willful or presumptuous sins are extremely dangerous. Any sin will try to get the upper hand and rule over us. as read in Genesis 4:7 and John 8:34.

“Great transgression”- sins of lesser seriousness, if they gain the mastery over us, may lead on to more serious sins. Cain did not master his anger and so later killed his brother. David did not master his lust and so became guilty of adultery and murder (as read in 2 Samuel 11). Judas did not master his love of money and ended up as Jesus Christ’s betrayer, and a suicide. There are many other examples both in the Bible and out of it.

But true believers in Jesus Christ now have the promise of God’s grace as read in Romans 6:14 below.

For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under the Law, but under grace. Romans 6:14

Note and Biblical Scripture References on Romans 6:14

Here is the most precious , devine, sweetest truth possible to true believers troubled and harassed by sin. Let us not think we will overcome sin by any efforts to keep God’s law or to be “good” As only God’s grace can enable us to throw off the tyranny of sin, grace that brings to us forgiveness and eternal life, the Holy Spirit, and power and strength to conquer in the fight against sin…

“Not under the law” as read in Romans 7:1-4 below

Do you not know, brethren (for I am speaking to those who know the Law), that the Law has authority over a man as long as he lives? For the woman who has a husband is bound to her husband, by the Law, as long as he lives. But if the husband dies, she is freed from the law regarding the husband. So then, if she marries another man while her husband is still living, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband is dead, she is freed from that law, so that even though she gets married to another man, she is not an adulteress. Therefore, my brethren, you also have died to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be married to another, to him who was raised from the dead, that we might bear fruit to God. Romans 7:1-4

May the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my Strength and my Redeemer.
Psalms 19:14

Note and Biblical Scripture References on Psalms 19:14

“Words”- as Read in Psalms 39:1-3; Matthew 12:36 and James 3:1-2. The writers of the Bible, inspired by the Holy Spirit, knew the great importance of the marvelous righteous word of our Lord Jesus Christ.

“Heart”- they also knew the great importance of inner thoughts and ideas (as read in Proverbs 4:23).

“Meditation” as read in Psalms 1:2; 104:34; 119:99, 148; Josh 1:8 and 1 Timothy 4:15. “Redeemer” as read in Psalms 78:35 below.

And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their Redeemer.
Psalms 78:35

Note and Biblical Scripture References on Psalms 78:35

The Hebrew word translated here “Redeemer” (Goel) is used 46 times in the Hebrew Old Testament, sometimes of God, sometimes of men. It had various meanings. A redeemer was one who delivered from trouble and bondage (as read in Genesis 48:16 and Deuteronomy 13:5); a close relative who would buy a person’s lost property and restore it to him (as read in Leviticus 25:25); an avenger of a family member who had been killed (as read in Nummers 35:12); a close relative who would marry the widow of a family member and raise up progeny for him, besides buying up her lost property (as read in Ruth 2:20); and one who takes the side of his people against oppressors (as read in Proverbs 23:11). As Redeemer God saved His people from bondage, restored them to the land, and punished their enemies (as read in Isaiah 49:25-26 and Jeremiah 50:33-34).

In the New Testament the word has more spiritual meanings. There the Lord Jesus Christ is the Redeemer. He paid the price to release us from sin’s bondage. The price was His own blood. By His blood truth believers have forgiveness, freedom, and an eternal inheritance. Jesus Christ stands up for believers against their spiritual enemy (satan). He will destroy this one who has brought death on the human race, and will restore to man all that he lost by falling into satan’s hands. The Lord Jesus Christ has redeemed His people that collectively they might become His Holy, spiritual “Bride” to bring forth fruit for God. as read in Matthew 20:28; 26:28; Romans 3:24; 7:1-4; 8:23; Galatians 3:13-14; Ephesians 1:7, 14; 4:30; 5:25-33; Colossians 1:14; Hebrews 9:12; 1 Peter 1:4, 18, 19 and Revelation 1:5; 5:9-10; 19:6-9.

And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.
But I told you that you have seen Me and do not believe.
John 6:35-36

Our dear wonderful, caring Lord Jesus Christ makes it perfectly clear that He has not been speaking of some substance like manna which they can gather and eat. He has been speaking of Himself (As read in John 6:48,51). In  this marvelous Gospel on a number of occasions Jesus Christ used the words “I am” in connection with the truth or other about Himself or His ministry as read in John 6:35; 8:12; 10:7,9,11,14; 11:25; 14:6; 15; 1,5. Also He used the words by themselves (Read John 8:24,58. Here when Jesus Christ compares Himself to bread He signifies that He is to men’s minds, hearts, and spirits what literal food is to the body….

Much LoVe, JoY, Peace and Blessings through Jesus Christ, our almighty dear caring Saviour and Redeemer, in who we faithfully abide, trust, believe and abundantly do receive throughout His marvelous righteous Word and truth fulfilling Holy Spirit ✝️🔥👑🙏🏻🕊️

Jesus Christ’s illustration of the true vine and the branches

I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower.
John 15:1

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:1

In the Old Testament the nation Israel is compared to a vine. as read in Psalms 80:8-17; Isaiah 5:1-7; Jeremiah 2:21; Ezekiel 15:1-8; 19:10-14 and Hosea 10:1-2. But it turned out to be a corrupt, wild vine, not producing the fruit God wanted. It behaved as a false or unreal vine. By saying He is the true vine, Jesus Christ teaches that He, and not the corrupt nation, is the source of true spiritual life and fruitfulness. The one who “planted” Him on earth and takes care of the “branches”, is God the Father.

Every branch in me that bears no fruit he takes away, and he prunes every branch that bears fruit, that it might bear more fruit.
John 15:2

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:2

The subject of this illustration is the fruitfulness of believers, not their salvation (as read in vers 4,5,8). Jesus Christ does not define here the kind of fruit God wants, but it is seen in other places in the Bible (as seen in Matthew 3:8; Romans 6:22; Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 5:9; Philippines 1:11; Hebrews 6:7-10 and Proverbs 11:30). Many professing Christian workers who point to what they call success in the ministry are proud, unholy, dishonest, unkind, and unspiritual. Jesus Christ does not call their seeming success “fruit”. The fruit God wants to see is believers becoming like Jesus Christ, and serving like Jesus Christ…

“Takes away” – Jesus Christ was not teaching that true believers will lose their salvation if they fail at some time to bear fruit. Compare John 5:24; 6:37-40, 54, 56; 10:27-29.

We should never take language in a parable or allegory, Jesus told and try to overthrow His plain statements in other places. Here He does not define what He means by “takes away”, nor does He say when or how it takes place. He is merely emphasizing by very strong language the desire of God the Father for fruit. Should we not think God sees to it that every believer bears some fruit and works in us that it might increase. Perhaps Judas Iscariot is an example of a branch taken away, for he was no true believer (as read in John 6:70-71; 13:10). Perhaps those believers mentioned in 1 Corinthians 11:30, and the man in 1 Corinthians 5:4-5 are examples of this “taking away”. This whole picture of vine and branches may possibly refer to the visible church made up of all who profess to be Christians, both true and false. A reason for thinking so is this: in the Old Testament the “vine” Israel was the whole nation made up of believers and unbelievers, the good and the bad. And often in their history most of them were bad, and were eventually “taken away”. as read in Isaiah 5:1-7; Jeremiah 2:21-22; Hosea 10:1-2. Compare Romans 11:17-21 which speaks of being “broken off”. If anyone professes to be a Christian and does not bear fruit for God, but “bad” fruit, we have strong reason for suspecting his claims are false. Compare Matthew 7:16-20.

“He prunes” or “trims”- how does God do this? What is His “knife”? This pruning means chastisements, difficulties, afflictions, troubles of various sorts. He works in our hearts, minds, circumstances and experiences to trim away what is useless and make us more what we should be. as read in 2 Corinthians 12:7-12; Hebrews 12:4-11 and Psalms 66:10-12. See reference on afflictions and troubles at Job 3:20.

“Now you are clean through the word which I have spoken to you. John 15:3

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:3

in John 13:10; 17:17; Ephesians 5:26; 1 Peter 1:22 and Psalms 119:9, 11. The marvelous righteous Word of God is properly applied to the minds, hearts, wills and consciences, and will produce a cleansing.

Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so you also cannot, unless you remain in Me.
John 15:4

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:4

Compare John 15:9,10. The word “remain” (or “abide”) means to stay in one place. It is used ten times in John 15: 4-10. This is some indication of its importance in this context. The one place believers are to stay in is Jesus Christ. Stay in Him as plants in the ground of His love (Read Ephesians 3:17), as members of His body (as read in 1 Corinthians 12:12-13), as stones in His temple (as read in Ephesians 2:20-22), as members of His household (as read in Hebrews 3:6), and as branches in Him the Vine.

Jesus Christ perfectly tells believers to stay in Him. Does this imply that they may not or that some will not?

Not necessarily. It implies that our almighty dear Heavenly Father will enable them to do so, otherwise He would not command it. It implies also that He wants them to know their freedom through Jesus Christ. Remaining in Jesus Christ is something believers do consciously, willingly and honorable. They are not puppets or robots. God desires them to apply their hearts (minds) and wills to the works, for being sons any daughters in Jesus Christ.

The spiritual life is not automatic but dynamic. It is not a life of mutual compulsion between Christ and His people but one of mutual love. Believers are in Christ and remain in Him because they want to do so. He chose them and they choose to follow Him. They love Him. Their freedom does not cause them to leave Jesus Christ but to remain in Him fully without any doubt. Compare John 6:67-68. Jesus Christ true disciples, in a sense, were free to go away from Him just as the others did, but they would not. And it was God’s work in them that produced this determination not to go away. as read in Philippines 1:6; 2:12-13. And what God did in them He does in all believers. As read and revealed with clarity in 1 John 2:24, the way we can be certain of remaining in Jesus Christ, it’s for us to have this great desire to let His truth fulfilling precious, devine works remain in us and continue to believe and trust what He revealed in His marvelous, promised, righteous Word and receive throughout the edification of His Holy Spirit.

I am the vine, you are the branches. He who remains in Me, and I in him, he will bear much fruit. For without Me you can do nothing.
John 15:5

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:5

“Much fruit”- This will result because the life and power of our Lord Jesus Christ that will flow through them. Any attempt to serve Him without truly abiding in Him will come to nothing in God’s eyes, though there may be much activity and seeming success. “Nothing” here means nothing truly spiritual, nothing of the kind of fruit God wants. There is much activity in the churches (not to speak of the religious world in general) which comes to nothing good because it is not done through our Lord Jesus Christ and does not have the flow of His life in it.

If a man does not remain in Me, he is thrown away like a branch and withers. And men gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. John 15:6

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:6

He is speaking of what happens to literal branches cut from a vine. He does not say that some believers may not remain in Him and that if they do not they will be burned in the fires of hell. That will be the fate of unbelievers, like Judas Iscariot, but not of believers. as seen in Matthew 3:10, 12 and Revelation 21:8. If any believer fears it is good to be sure and take hold of all the truth Jezus Christ taught and remain in Him. Then they can be certain not to fall away.

“If you remain in Me and my words remain in you, you will ask what you want, and it will be done for you.
John 15:7

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:7

“What you want” – as read in John 14:13-14; compare Psalms 37:4. Jesus Christ is not giving a method by which believers can be a success in the world’s eyes, get rich, or have all the pleasures and comforts to be found on earth. He is giving the way of spiritual success and effective prayer. If Jezus Christ’s Words rule the heart of a believer his or her desires will be under the control through the Holy Spirit, and their desires want what Jesus Christ wants them to receive. Believers ruled by Jezus Christ’s Words will pray as Jesus Christ taught (as seen and read as example in Matthew 6:9-13). Compare Colossians 3:16-17 and 1 John 5:14-15.

My Father is glorified in this, that you bear much fruit; so you will be my disciples.
John 15:8

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:8

Fruit bearing is not for the honor of the one who bears the fruit, but for the glory of God the almighty Heavenly Father. In other words, God is glorified by His work in believers. Compare Matthew 5:16; 1 Corinthians 1:31; 4:7; 10:31 and Philippines 1:11. The person who seeks honor from men because of what he thinks is fruit bearing is not yet bearing the kind of fruit God wants.

As the Father has loved Me, so I have loved you. Remain in My love. John 15:9

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:9

as read in John 5:20 below. Since Jesus Christ’s love for His people is like the almighty Heavenly Father’s love for Him, we may be sure it is deep, true, everlasting, and indescribably wonderful for us to know and receive.

“Remain in my love”– As seen in Jude 21. This obviously implies conscious, determined effort, a willing obedience to His commands. It means for believers to behave in such a way that He can justly demonstrate His love to them in their daily lives.

If you keep My commands, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in His love. John 15:10

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:10

As read in John 14:15, 21, 23. Those who love Jesus Christ will obey His commands, and those who obey His commands will remain in His love. Here is a circle of love very meaningful to those inside it, but incomprehensible to those without. Believers are to settle down in this new dwelling place of God’s infinite love and get better and better acquainted with the Heavenly almighty dear caring Father of the house by doing what He says. Observe that Jesus Christ Himself remained in the Father’s love by obedience. And believers will remain in His love in the same way. No doubt some believers are more obedient than others. Perhaps none are always completely obedient ( as read in James 3:2), and none completely disobedient. The extent to which they are obedient will affect how much they will consciously experience and enjoy His love.

“These things I have said to you that My joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
John 15:11

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:11

Jesus Christ was the “man of sorrows” (as read in Isaiah 53:3). In the Gospels it is written that He wept (as read in John 11:35 and Luke 11:41), but never that He laughed.

Did He have joy?

Certainly a deep inner joy that had nothing to do with outward circumstances (as read in John 17:13 and Luke 10:21). It was a joy that came from perfect obedience to God’s will (compare John 4:34). This joy He desires all of His children to experience. And obedience is the only way to experience it.

What joy can there be if our consciences are always condemning us for disobedience?

This is my command, that you love one another, as I have loved you.
John 15:12

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:12

As read in John 13:34. Repeated for emphasis.

No man has love greater than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:13

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:13

Jesus Christ is speaking of what He Himself was about to do. As read in John 10:11, 17, 18. He died for the ungodly (as read in Romans 5:6-10), but that is not the point here. He is speaking to His friends and saying that the greatest proof of His love to them is the laying down of His life. as read also in 1 John 3:16.

You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you.
John 15:14

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:14

God incarnate looks for friends. Here He defines what true friendship with Himself means, obedience. In other words, this friendship is not among equals one is the Lord from heaven, the others are mere men called to follow Him. Rebellion, disobedience and refusal to obey are not marks of friendship but of enmity against God. In the kind of friendship of which Jesus Christ speaks there must be oneness of mind, heart, and purpose.

From now on, I will not call you servants, because the servant does not know what his lord is doing. But I have called you friends, for everything that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. John 15:15

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:15

Jesus Christ’s disciples are not ignorant who must obey, but knowledgeable friends who desire to obey. See here that Jesus Christ again states that His teachings were a direct revelation from God the Heavenly Father, as read in John 7:16-17; 12:49; 17:6-8.

“You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, He may give it to you. John 15:16

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:16

“I have chosen”– as read in Mark1:16-20; 2:14; 3:13-14. Compare Ephesians 1:4.

“Your fruit should remain”- this is what all true servants of God want. Compare Psalms 90:17. Fruit produced under Jesus Christ’s direction and in Jesus Christ will last forever.

“My name” – as read in John 14:13-14.

These things I command you, that you love one another.
John 15:17

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:17

as read in Verse 12 and John 13:34. Repeated again for further emphasis.

If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.
John 15:18

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:18

“World”- this is the unbelieving world which does not obey our true almighty dear caring Heavenly Father. As seen in 1 John 2:16; 5:19. That world is in darkness and wishes to remain there.

“Hates you”Jesus Christ’s disciples carry Jesus Christ’s light to which the world strongly objects (as read in John 3:19-20 and Matthew 5:14). They belong to God, not to the world. Sin at its heart is hatred of the one true and holy God, and all those connected with Him. So it is not surprising that the world will be unfriendly and antagonistic to Jesus Christ’s disciples. It would be surprising if it were not so. Compare Psalms 37:12; Proverbs 29:27; Amos 5:10 and 1 John 3:12. A world that hates God and His Son will not love God’s own people. If we say we are Jesus Christ’s followers and the world loves us we should be alarmed, for this is evidence that we do not really belong to Jesus Christ but to the world. But if we are hated by the world because we belong to Jesus Christ we should count it an honor ( as read in 1 Peter 4:14-16). And we should know that the very reason the world hates us is the reason God especially loves us.

If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own. But you do not belong to the world. I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
John 15:19

“Remember the word I spoke to you, ‘The servant is not greater than his lord.’ If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they have kept My Word, they will keep yours also.
John 15:20

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:20

As Read in John 13:16. Jesus Christ’s servants have no right to expect better treatment than Jesus Christ had to endure (as read in 1 Peter 4:1). The world will sometimes show its hatred by persecuting God’s people. But some individuals in the world will receive Jesus Christ’s teaching. We see both of these truths fully illustrated in the book of Acts.

But they will do all these things to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.
John 15:21

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:21

The world has ungodly gods and lords in abundance, but does not know the one true God (as read in John 8:19, 55; 16:3; Acts 17:22-23; 1 Corinthians 1:21 and Ephesians 4:18). This ignorance is not the same as the ignorance spoken of by Advaita Vedanta. That teaches that man’s spirit and God’s Spirit are one and the same, and that ignorance of this keeps men in bondage, and knowledge of it liberates them. This whole idea is completely opposed to the teaching of the Bible. (read John 10:30.)

If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin. But now they have no excuse for their sin.
John 15:22

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:22

“They would not have sin” – whether Jesus Christ had come or not men would have been sinners (as read in Romans 3:9-19, 23; 5:12). And certainly the Jews who rejected Him were full of sin (as read in John 8:24, 40, 44 and Matthew 23:3, 13-15, 25, 28, 32-36). The meaning seems to be this: such sins of which the Jews were guilty, God in mercy could have passed over (as read in Romand 3:25), if they had not committed the sin of rejecting His Son. To reject Jesus Christ is to reject the only way of forgiveness. He is speaking here of the Jewish nation as read in (Deuteronomy7:6). God had appointed sacrifices by which He could pass over their sin and forgive them (as read in Leviticus chapters 1–7). But the sin He could not pass over was the willful rejection of Himself (as read in Leviticus 26:18, 21, 23; Nummers 15:30-31 and Deuteronomy 30:15-20). Jesus Christ’s coming to them revealed their character as nothing else could have done. Their love of darkness and their hatred of God were made very clear (as read in John 3:19-20). Their cloak of religion could not conceal their evil. They could not offer the excuse that they didn’t know what they were doing. Let us learn that rejecting light is a very dangerous thing. Compare Proverbs 1:24-31 and Luke 12:47-48.

He who hates Me hates my Father also.
John 15:23

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:23

Again Jesus Christ speaks of the absolute oneness of God the Father and the only Son of God as read in John 10:30; 13:20; 14:9-10. The person who loves and serves the one, loves and serves the other. The person who rejects and hates the one, rejects and hates the other.

If I had not done among them deeds which no other man did, they would not have sin. But now they have both seen and hated both Me and my Father.
John 15:24

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:24

Moses and the prophets of the Old Testament did mighty miracles but none had done what Jesus Christ did, giving sight to the blind, feeding great multitudes with a handful of food, raising a man who had been dead four days, etc. The Jews rejected Him in the face of great evidence that He was the Son of God from heaven (as read in John 5:31-40). This was the one sin that made it impossible for God to forgive the rest of their sins. The hatred of God, that often lies unrevealed in the sinful heart of men (Romans 8:7), in their case was brought out into the open.

But this happens that the Word that is written in their Law might be fulfilled, ‘They hated Me without a cause.’
John 15:25

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:25

As read in Psalms 35:19; 69:4. He did nothing to injure them. His mission was to save men and bring them into God’s eternal blessing. Their is no reason to reject and hate our almighty dear caring Lord Jesus Christ.

“But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who comes out from the Father, he will testify about Me. John 15:26

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John 15:26

“Comforter”- as Read in John 14:16-17.

“I will send”– this is further evidence that Jesus Christ is God.

Who but God could send the Spirit of God?

Observe the Trinity in this verse. Compare John14:26. and read Matthew 3:16.

“Testify”- as read in John16:14; Romans 8:16 and 1 John 5:6. The Spirit testifies silently in the minds, hearts, and consciences of people. Also He works with and in human witnesses who speak aloud and He makes their testimony effective (as read in Matthew 10:20 and 1 Peter 1:12).

And you also will testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.
John 15:27

Note and Biblical Scripture References on John
15:27

“You also will testify”- this is one of the chief reasons why Jesus Christ chose His disciples and left them in the world. See the fulfillment in the book of Acts (as read in Acts1:8; 2:32; 3:15; 5:32; 10:39, 41; 13:31). They were not to be afraid of the hatred and persecution He spoke of here as seen in vers 18-21. From the beginning they saw all that He did and heard all that He said. They were completely qualified witnesses. Compare Acts 1:21-22 and 2 Peter 1:16-18. Here in this chapter we see the privilege and responsibility of Jesus Christ’s disciples in three different relationships, they were to remain in Jesus Christ (vers 4), love one another (vers 12), and witness to the world (vers 27).

Much Love, JoY, Peace and Blessings through Jesus Christ, our almighty dear caring Lord Saviour and Redeemer, in who we faithfully abide, trust, believe and abundantly do receive throughout His marvelous righteous Word and truth fulfilling Holy Spirit ✝️🔥👑🙏🏻🕊️

Time of Refreshing

Everyone who’s thirsty, come to the water’s edge For why spend your money, on that which is not bread Listen to the Father, draw near to His side He is greater than all riches, only He can satisfy
Chorus: Seek the Lord while He may be found Call upon Him while He is near If we repent and turn to Jesus, He’ll cleanse us by His blood He will send His presence to us, and times of refreshing will come Times of refreshing will come His thoughts are high and mighty, His ways are not our ways Yet He teaches those who fear Him, those who humbly seek His face Let the wicked cease from evil, the unrighteous man his thoughts For the Lord will greatly pardon, when He alone is sought
Bridge: As rain comes down, His word goes forth And it shall not return to Him void As rain comes down, His Spirit’s poured To revive us, to heal and restore
