“And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs, and they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.” (2 Kings 20:7).
The word Bethany means “house of figs’. In the Bible figs speak of health, “2 Kings 20:7′. Figs are a part of the normal diet of the Jews. In “1 Samuel 25:18′ we read how Abigail brought the best things to David, hoping to appease his anger, and amongst them were two hundred cakes of figs. This is an illustration of the value of the figs among the Jews, for feasting and also for health. Bethany as house of figs is also house of health.
The Lord Jesus Christ came into the world to proclaim the truth gospel and bring us true health. All men are sick of sin and sickness of sin cannot be healed, other than by abiding in the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus Christ came into the world to heal men and women from their sickness of sin and spoke truthfully and righteously throughout His infinite love, Words and wondrous deeds, by His sacrifice on the cross for our sins. This is enough evidence how great Jesus Christ’s infinite love is for our life so we can receive a future life more abundantly. Let us therefore humble ourselves and follow in the footsteps of our almighty dear caring Lord Jesus Christ.
See, I will bring health and healing to it, and I will heal them, and will reveal to them an abundance of peace and truth. And I will cause the captives of Judah and the captives of Israel to return, and will build them up, as at the first. And I will cleanse them from all their wickedness, in which they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, in which they have sinned and in which they have transgressed against me. And it will be for me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which will hear of all the good that I do for them; and they will fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I provide for it.
“Thus says the LORD: Again there will be heard in this place, which you say will be desolate without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man and without inhabitant and without beast, the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of those who will say, ‘Praise the LORD of hosts, for the LORD is good,
for His mercy continues on forever’, and the voice of those
who will bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will restore the captive land, as at the first, says the LORD. “Thus says the LORD of hosts: Again in this place, which is desolate without man and without beast, and in all its cities, there will be dwelling places of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down. In the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the vale, and in the cities of the south, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, once more the flocks will pass under the hands of the one counting them, says the LORD.
“See, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will perform that good thing which I have promised to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah.
“In those days, and at that time, I will cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up for David; and he will administer justice and righteousness in the land.” “Jeremiah 33:6-15′
Do not be wise in your own eyes. Fear the LORD and depart from evil. It will be health to your navel,
and marrow to your bones.
Honour the LORD with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your harvests; Then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your winepresses will burst open with new wine. My son, do not despise the discipline of the LORD, nor be weary of His correction, For whom the LORD loves He corrects,
as a father the son in whom he delights. Proverbs 3:7-12
Much LoVe, JoY, Peace and Blessings through Jesus Christ, our almighty, wonderful dear caring Lord, Saviour and Redeemer, in who we faithfully abide, trust, believe and abundantly do receive throughout His marvelous righteous Word and truth fulfilling Holy Spirit.
